social work manager for almost 30 years and
presently is a therapist and counsellor, and
Director of Clan Unity International,
an international mental health recovery

Barker is co-author of the Tidal Model
of Mental Health Recovery and Reclamation.
He was the UK's first Professor of
psychiatric nursing and has worked in the
mental health field for almost 40 years.
Presently, he is a psychotherapist and
Honorary Professor at the University of
